ASG sub-leader, 10 members surrender in Basilan


ZAMBOANGA CITY - A sub-leader of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) and ten other members surrendered to authorities in Basilan last Tuesday, less than a week after the group’s top leader was killed during an encounter with government troops.

Lt. Gen. Alfredo Rosario Jr., Western Mindanao Command (WesMinCom) chief, identified the sub-leader as Abdullah Indanan aka Guro.

Indanan and the ten other members surrendered to Joint Task Force Basilan Commander Brig. Gen. Domingo Gobway in Barangay Serongon, Hadji Mohammad Ajul Municipality.

The surrenderers also turned over 11 high-powered firearms.

The surrender came four days after ASG leader Radmil Jannatul was killed during an encounter with government troops in Barangay Baiwas, Sumisip, Basilan on March 25, 2022.
