UP students joining face-to-face classes to register with PhilHealth

After two years of distance learning, the University of the Philippines (UP) is gradually opening its doors for face-to-face classes anew.

UP is requiring its students who will participate in face-to-face classes to have medical insurance. However, those who do not have must register with the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) either as a Direct or Indirect Contributor.

"To ensure that UP students participating in class activities have a medical insurance plan, the University has set up a PhilHealth registration process," UP said.

The University said students may register through the Office of Student Affairs or the Insurance Claims Officers in their UP Campus.

UP said the medical insurance requirement is following the Department of Health and Commission on Higher Education guidelines for higher education institutions intent on holding limited in-person classes.

"Registering with PhilHealth ensures that students will be covered if they incur Covid-related medical expenses."
