“We wish him a very happy birthday and we will always be grateful for all that he has done for our country and I think that is reflected on how Filipinos now react to him,” Marcos said when asked for his birthday message for Duterte.

Duterte, whose six-year term in Malacañang will end this coming June 30, celebrates his 77th birthday today, March 28.

“He (Duterte) has been a true leader and he has been a true servant of the people that is why people trust him and still believe in him,” added Marcos, who is the Palace bet of the UniTeam ticket.

The Ilocano candidate gave these statements on the sidelines of The Deep Probe: SMNI’s Presidential Interview, which he attended on Saturday.

Last March 24, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary and Acting Presidential Spokesperson Martin Andanar confirmed that Duterte recently met with Marcos and had a cordial and productive meeting with him.

Duterte shared his experiences and insights as well as the current government’s major achievements and gave him pieces of advice.

Duterte’s political party, PDP- Laban (Cusi Wing), has also earlier endorsed the candidacy of Marcos and his running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio. Mayor Duterte is the President's eldest daughter.
