‘Caravan of the Landless’ continues; farmers demand release of political prisoners


On the fourth day of the “Caravan of the Landless,” farmers and rural sectors from various Bicol provinces called on the release of political prisoners in Camarines Norte.

The caravan, which will be held until the end of the month, aims to highlight the “most urgent issues” faced by farmers in the country.

“Bibigyang diin ngayong araw ang panawagan para sa pagpapalaya ng mga bilanggong pulitikal tulad nina Elwin Mangampo ng LAMBAT-Bicol at ni Ramon Rescovilla ng CONDOR-Piston na kasalukuyang nakakulong sa Camarines Norte Provincial Jail. (Today, we emphasize the call for the release of political prisoners such as Elwin Mangampo of LAMBAT-Bicol and Ramon Rescovilla of CONDOR-Piston who are currently imprisoned in Camarines Norte Provincial Jail),” said Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) on Monday, March 28.

“Iikutin ng caravan ang Daet at ang mga karatig na bayan (The caravan will tour Daet and neighboring towns),” KMP added.

Meanwhile, KMP disclosed that the caravan will traverse the provinces of Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur. 41 municipalities and five cities in Bicol, as well as one municipality in Quezon province will likewise be covered, it said.
