It was unfortunate that people all over the world witnessed WIll Smith slapping comedian Chris Rock earlier at the 94th Academy Awards. Apparently, Rock made a joke about Smith's wife Jada who is suffering from Alopecia Areata including hair loss.
Smith got emotional and went on stage and slapped Rock. He went back to his chair and shouted back to Rock, saying that he should not mention his wife's name.

Smith received his very first Oscar award later on, and apologized for his behavior. "This is a beautiful moment and I’m not crying for winning an award, it’s not about winning an award for me."
Later on, the Academy released their official statement, "The Academy does not condone violence of any form. Tonight, we are delighted to celebrate our 94th Academy Awards winners who deserve this moment of recognition from their peers and movie lovers around the world."
