Makati City's Team United, led by Makati City Mayor Abby Binay, held its proclamation rally on Friday, March 25, the start of the campaign period for local candidates in the upcoming 2022 elections.
The rally was held at the quadrangle of Makati City Hall wherein thousands of residents showed their support for the team and their candidates.
The program started with a dance number by Zumba dancing seniors and a heart-pounding drum performance by some Makatizens.
TV personality Kalad Karen Davila hosted the event, energizing the crowd with her explosive humor. He introduced each member of Team United, including former Vice President and senatorial aspirant Jejomar Binay.
After brief introductions of the candidates, singers Mark Mabasa, Viva Hotbabe Sheree, and Ice Seguerra serenaded the audience and aspirants.
The local government presented a video slideshow of some of Abby Binay's flagship projects that benefitted her constituents such as the Bakuna Makati Covid-19 response program; priority infrastructure projects such as hospitals, sports complexes, and schools; distribution of school supplies and scholarships to its students; various cash grants to the city's senior citizens. It also featured Makati as the very first city in the country to distribute cash aid or ayuda via GCash, preventing beneficiaries from going out of their homes and exposing themselves from the virus.
In her closing remarks, Mayor Abby thanked all her constituents who continuously support her and her administration.
"Sinamahan ninyo ako, tinutulungan ninyo akong maitatag natin ang isang Makati na mas maunlad at kumakalinga sa lahat, isang Makati na walang naiiwanan, isang Makati na ehemplo ng isang tapat at hayag na pamahalaan (You've accompanied me, helped me in establishing a Makati that is more prosperous, a Makati wherein no one is left behind, a Makati that is an example of a loyal and just government)," Binay said.
"Kahit na ano mang balakid, kahit anong paghamon, kahot na anong pagsubok ang dinaan, nandiyan pa kayo para sa inyong lingkod at sa aking ama. Ngayong gabi gusto kong kunin ang pagkakataong ito upang sabihin sa inyong lahat: maraming maraming salamat (Whatever obstacles, problems, or challenges we have faced, you are still here for me and my father. Tonight, I would like to take this opportunity to say to you: Thank you very much)," she added.
