Latest election survey shows tight mayoral races in NCR’s key cities

The mayoral races in key cities in the National Capital Region (NCR) have tightened, according to a latest election survey.

Polling firm Publicus announced the results of the Pahayag NCR Tracker Survey. The latest poll was done from March 16 to 21 among 1,648 registered Filipino voters in Metro Manila who were randomly selected from the panel marketplace maintained by American firm PureSpectrum.

Among the 17 local government units in the NCR, 100 respondents were asked in each of the 16 cities in Metro Manila and 48 in Pateros for their preferences for mayor and vice mayor in their respective areas. The survey’s implied margin of error is 10 percent for city results and 14 percent for Pateros.

According to Publicus, survey results showed that four cities have tight races with two or more candidates being statistically tied for first place. These are in Manila, Quezon City, Caloocan and Malabon.

“Looking at both the February and March surveys, it is clear that the local races in NCR are becoming more competitive,” said Dr. David Barua Yap Jr., the chief data scientist of Publicus.
