Fire razes 25 houses in Alabang


A fire hit a residential area in Barangay Alabang, Muntinlupa Thursday (March 24) night, razing 25 houses and affecting scores of families.

According to the Muntinlupa City Fire Station, the fire started at about 7:30 p.m. at 7C Ilaya St., Alabang. The first alarm was raised at 7:30 p.m. and the second alarm at 7:45 p.m.

The fire station reported that the blaze originated from the room of Rowena Devera but firefighters are investigating the cause.

A total of 25 houses were burned down, affecting 50 families. The damage to property was placed at P500,000.

The fire station said 42 fire trucks responded to the incident consisting of 17 from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), nine from local government units and 16 from volunteer groups.

No one was injured in the fire, which was put under control at 8:46 p.m. and was finally put out at 9:05 p.m.

The Muntinlupa City government will provide assistance to the affected families.
