Bohol keeps hot streak in VisMin Super Cup

ZAMBOANGA — Five games and counting for CPG Bohol Dolphins.

The Dolphins continued to make a big splash in the GlobalPort-VisMin Super Cup after they outlasted a tough OCCCI Ormoc Sheer Masters squad, 94-91, at the Zamboanga City Coliseum here.

Lester Reyes was a solid presence on both ends of the court while Nikko Panganiban presided on the team’s offense for the Dolphins, the only undefeated team in the tournament with a 5-0 win-loss record and two wins away from completing a sweep of the first round of the eliminations.

A member of the San Juan Knights’ champion team in the MPBL three years ago, Reyes finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds and four assists.

Panganiban, on the other hand, led the way in scoring with 23 points and three rebounds.

Overshadowed by the Dolphins’ victory was Zamboanga’s second straight triumph.

Barely 24 hours after defeating Macfi-Basilan in the tournament’s first overtime game, the Valientes added Lawaan KalosPh to their growing list of victims, edging their rivals, 77-71, behind another sizzling performance from Reed Juntilla and import Prince Eze.

Juntilla, a former PBA player and multi-titled champion in the defunct PBL while playing for Harbour Centre and Montana Pawnshop, paced the Valientes with 22 points.

Eze, a former NCAA MVP, contributed 18 points and 13 boards.

Also winning on Thursday night were Macfi-Basilan and Tubigon.

Basilan trounced Sultan Naga Dimaporo, 87-79, while Tubigon picked up its first win in the tournament courtesy of its 96-88 triumph over winless McDavid-ZamPen.
