Senatorial candidate Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV showed his funny side during an interview on “Ogie Diaz Showbiz Update” YouTube channel as he gamely answered naughty questions from hosts Ogie Diaz and Mama Loi.
Trillanes can’t help but smile after Diaz and Mama Loi said that they were turned on by the presence of the former senator.
“Ganyan talaga kapag guwapo, matipuno at makisig,” said Mama Loi.
The two hosts were also titillated as Trillanes mentioned that something “long” kept him looking young and handsome all these years.
“Wala namang out of the ordinary. Sinasabi nila mahaba…,” Trillanes said before Diaz and Mama Loi interrupted his answer with shrieks.
But Trillanes clarified that was merely referring to his long stay in prison that kept him from being exposed to the elements.
“Mahaba ang taon na nakulong ako kaya hindi na-expose sa elements,” explained Trillanes, who also admitted that he had gay admirers during his younger days.
Despite his good looks, Trillanes said he didn’t receive any offer to join showbiz because he entered the Philippine Military Academy (PMA).
Trillanes said his dream was to become an electrical engineer, but he was influenced by his father’s military background so he joined the PMA.
The former senator also admitted that he had a crush on some actresses in the 80s, including Dawn Zulueta and Gretchen Barretto.
“Noong teenager tayo nagkaroon din tayo ng crush na artista. Sina Dawn Zulueta at Gretchen Barretto,” he said, adding he had met Barretto personally before.
Diaz also asked Trillanes why his family is living in the house of his in-laws despite being a lawmaker for 12 years.
“Unang-una kasi, noong tayo ay nakakulong, naging komportable na ang pamilya ko doon. Ang in-laws ko naman sa GenSan nakatira so pinahiram sa amin iyong bahay na iyon,” said Trillanes.
“Nasanay na kami, komportable kami. Hindi rin kami sanay sa magarbong pamumuhay,” he added, saying he was able to buy some properties for his children from his salary as lawmaker and not from corruption.
From 2007 to 2019, Trillanes was the most productive senator with 98 national bills passed into law as principal author, including the AFP Modernization Law, Increase in the Subsistence Allowance of Uniformed Personnel, Salary Standardization Law 3, Increase in the Burial Assistance to Veterans, Archipelagic Baselines Law, Universal Healthcare Law, Immediate Release of Retirement Benefits of Government Employees, PAG-IBIG Fund Law, Magna Carta for Disabled Persons, Expanded Senior Citizens Act, and Anti-Bullying Act.
If elected anew to the Senate, Trillanes plans to push the passage of laws to boost efforts against anti-corruption and strengthen the government’s peace and order, poverty alleviation, health and education programs.
