Taguig places 3rd in ‘Bayanihan, Bakunahan’ accomplishment


Taguig City was recognized by the national government for its “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” vaccination program.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government, together with other government agencies, awarded on March 22 the best performing local government units (LGUs) in the implementation of the Safety Seal Certification, VaxCertPH, and National Vaccination Program or “Bayanihan, Bakunahan.”

Under the “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” category, the winning LGUs were determined by the Department of Health (DOH) based on the percentage of accomplishments in second doses, A2 (senior citizens) doses, and total doses administered from March 4 to 12.

For the second dose accomplishment, Zamboanga City placed first, while Agusan Del Sur grabbed second place and Taguig placed third.

Dr. Norena Osano, Taguig City Health Office chief, received the award at the ceremony held at SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

As of March 21, 832,839 individuals are now fully vaccinated in Taguig consisting of 797,719 vaccinated at Taguig City government hubs and 35,120 in private vaccination hubs.

Under the A2 dose accomplishment, Ilocos Norte placed first followed by Ilocos Sur and Pampanga.

Nueva Ecija placed first in total doses administered, followed by Cavite and Bulacan.

"The victory of today's winners is founded on their cooperation and support to these programs which have changed the landscape of the country's COVID-19 response," said DILG Sec. Eduardo Año.

Under the VaxcertPH category, the winners are Marikina, Iloilo, and Davao under the highly urbanized city (HUC) category for Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, respectively.

Under the component city/independent component city (CC/ICC), Antipolo City, Rizal is the winner for Luzon; Roxas City, Capiz for Visayas; and Malaybalay City, Bukidnon for Mindanao.

For the municipality category, San Simon, Pampanga won for Luzon; Caluya, Antique for Visayas; and Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon for Mindanao.

The winners were determined based on the percentage of line list submission and the percentage of closed requests and were collated by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

Under the Safety Seal Certification, the winners for the LGU-issued safety seals are Quezon City, first place under the HUC category, with 5,800 Safety Seals granted to establishments, followed by Makati City with 3,538 seals, and Pasay City with 2,181.

Dasmariñas City, Cavite issued 500 Seals to get first place for the CC/ICC, followed by Bacoor City, Cavite with 324 Seals, and Santa Rosa City, Laguna with 281.

For the municipality category, Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya is the winner with 807 Safety Seals issued, followed by Santa Niña, Cagayan with 541 Seals, and Naujan, Oriental Mindoro with 529 Seals.

DILG-Manila City won first place for the DILG-issued Safety Seals under the HUC category with 557, followed by DILG-Zamboanga City with 317, and 247 for DILG-Quezon City.

With 284 Safety Seals issued, DILG-San Carlos City, Pangasinan led the CC/ICC category, followed by Candon City, Ilocos Sur with 272, and 231 for DILG-Ormoc.

For the municipality category, the winners are DILG-Santiago with 289 Safety Seals issued, followed by DILG-Narvacan with 258, and DILG-Magsingal with 208.
