LOOK: A marriage proposal at PasigLaban

Double the happiness for this couple

Witnessing a proposal, and having the woman say yes, is always a joy. And data analyst Joseph Anthony Riparip decided to do more than just that. He chose to propose to his girlfriend Larraine Fernando at last Sunday's (March 20) Pasig rally for presidential candidate Leni Robredo.

Riparip's mom passed away last Feb. 1 and her birthday fell on the day of the rally. Not only was it a special day for Riparip, he felt that "it was the perfect venue to propose in a sea of people who share the same principles like us."

As always, Riparip asked their friends to collaborate with him. One of them asked Fernando to check the grammar printed on the tarp. In her head, the rally was over so why did she had to check? Riparip, on the other hand, didn't realize that this move of his would include many strangers as well. "I was nervous and I didn't know what to do. I was embarrassed because we were still surrounded with many people," she tells Manila Bulletin Lifestyle.

And it happened in Emerald Avenue and Garnet St. "After I said yes, everyone chanted 'Leni, Leni, Leni!'" including random Kakam-pinks.

Was she surprised? Yes, because they've already started planning for their wedding even before the proposal. "I"ve already told him that there's no need to propose. We can just get married and prepare for our December wedding," she says. "So it was a challenge for him to surprise and he was successful!"

"Buti na lang pina-experience niya sa akin yun. Masaya pala (Good thing he made me experience it. It felt so good)," she ends.
