The Department of Health (DOH) is awaiting the decision of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its amendment application of the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) of Covid-19 vaccines to green light administering of fourth vaccine dose to senior citizens and immunocompromised.

On March 4, National Task Force (NTF) against Covid-19’s expert vaccine panel recommended administering a fourth dose or second booster shot to elderlies and people with comorbidities.

“The DOH has submitted an application to FDA for the amendment of the EUA for these fourth doses,” DOH Spokesperson Maria Rosario S. Vergeire said during a virtual press briefing, Tuesday, March 22.

“We will wait for the decision of the FDA on this. And then after that, we will discuss possible implementation.”

Meanwhile, Vergeire said Covid-19 cases in the country continue to decline in all areas of the country.
