Declared champion is Raphael Dylan Dalida, a student of Philippine Science High School-Main. Dalida won a medal, trophy, certificate and P25,000 while his coach won a certificate and P5,000.

Dalida won a silver medal at the 2021 International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) and a bronze medal in the 2020 contest.

First runner-up is Filbert Ephraim Wu, a Taguig resident and a student of Victory Christian International School. He won a medal, trophy, certificate and P20,000 while his coach won a certificate and P3,000.

The 16-year-old student has joined the PMO for five years since Grade 7 and this is his fourth time to qualify for the PMO national finals.

Wu told Manila Bulletin that he is “very grateful for the opportunity to participate in this year’s PMO National Finals once again.”

“Despite the pandemic, the Mathematical Society of the Philippines (MSP) was able to hold a successful PMO National Finals virtually. Personally, I am pleased that my hard work has begun to come to fruition,” he added.

Special awards were given to Kristen Steffi Teh of Ateneo de Manila Senior High School for emerging as the top female contestant from the qualifying stage of the 24th PMO; and to Te and Mohammad Nur Casib of the Philippine Science High School-Central Mindanao for being the top junior contestants from the qualifying stage or contestants from Grades 7 to 9 with the highest scores. Casib and Te got perfect scores of 80 in the qualifying stage.

There were 32 national finalists at the PMO this year. From the 32, six students will be selected as the country’s contestants to the 63rd IMO that will be held in Oslo, Norway from July 6 to 16 this year.
