Police arrested a tricycle driver and his live-in partner for robbery, illegal possession of a firearm and obstruction of justice in Muntinlupa City on March 19.
Southern Police District director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg identified the suspects as live-in partners Rommel Landrito, 47, and Clair Barcelona, 45.
Based on the police report, victim Joseph Guan was walking on his way to a store in Barangay Bayanan, Muntinlupa to buy cigarettes when Landrito appeared and held him up at gunpoint.
After taking away Guan's belongings, the suspect entered his home nearby.
The victim went to the Barangay Bayanan office to seek help.
The desk officer of the barangay police sought the assistance of Muntinlupa Police Putatan Sub-Station.
As the cops were about to arrest Landrito, Barcelona interfered, prompting the police to arrest her too.
Recovered from the possession of the suspect were one cellular phone worth P5,000, one cellular phone worth P3,000, one pair of Havaianas slippers worth P900, one plastic sachet containing suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) weighing about 0.4 gram worth P2,720, and one .38-caliber revolver without a serial number and loaded with five live ammunition.
The police said Landrito will be charged with robbery and violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), Republic Act 10591 for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, and Batas Pambansa Blg. 881, or the Omnibus Election Code.
Barcelona, meanwhile, will be charged with obstruction of justice.
The two are under the custody of the Muntinlupa Police.
“I congratulated the police for immediately responding, which resulted in the arrest of the suspects,” said Macaraeg.
