BBM Vlog deep-dive: UniTeam's favorite campaign placard has something to do with pink

Presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos has been using vlogs to reach as wide an audience as possible ahead of the May 9, 2022 elections. With now over 200 of these vlogs posted on his YouTube channel, a scouring of noteworthy snippets in these videos is in order.

In BBM Vlog no.203, vice presidential bet Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte joined Marcos in a frequently asked questions (FAQ)-type interview wherein the UniTeam duo answered queries left by followers on Marcos's Facebook.

In one question, the frontrunning pair was asked about their favorite campaign placards or posters from among the probably hundreds that they've seen since the campaign season began last Feb. 8

"Ah sa akin, unang-una is yung expression ng love nila (supporters). Madami yun, yung 'Mahal ka namin, Inday Sara,' 'We love you, Inday Sara,' yung 'Pa-hug', 'Pa-hug naman, Inday Sara (Ah for me, foremost are the supporters' expression of love. There are a lot of those, 'We love you, Inday Sara,' 'Can I please get a hug, Inday Sara)," Duterte said.

"It inspires me to do more dito sa campaign na ito (in this campaign)," the presidential daughter said of such placards.

Marcos, for his part, acknowledged in jest that he's been seeing more and more placards of people who are fans of his sons Sandro, Simon, and Vincent. "Medyo nagseselos na ako doon sa mga anak ko (I'm getting jealous of my sons)," he said, tongue-in-cheek.

But his favorite placard message so far actually has something to do with his rival, fellow presidential candidate Vice President Leni Robredo. As it is widely known, opposition leader Robredo's campaign color is pink.

"Napaka-witty talaga ng mga Pilipino. Isa sa paborito natin , yung nakita natin last week (Filipinos are very witty. One of our favorite placards was the one we saw last week)--'Bulacan ain't pink, yo,'" he said, before bursting out in laughter.

For the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) standard-bearer, the Bulacan message was proof of the Filipinos' indomitable sense of humor.

"Yung humor talaga ng Pilipino, kahit na nakabilad sa araw nang matagal, kahit gutom na, nagpapatawa pa rin (Such humor Filipinos have, even if they're out baking in the same and hungry, they will still make you laugh," Marcos said.

Duterte, chairperson of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD), thanked the UniTeam followers for efforts in creating and designing the posters and placards.

Marcos's campaign color is red, while Duterte's is green.
