Gerrit Holtmann could see himself on the same pitch with veteran goalkeeper Neil Etheridge for the upcoming friendlies of the Philippine Azkals in Singapore against Malaysia and the host country.
Etheridge is slated to see action in an Azkals shirt for the first time since 2019 after being named in the 25-man lineup for the tri-nations series at Singapore’s National Stadium.
The Azkals also formalized the inclusion of Holtmann, the highly-touted midfielder for German Bundesliga side VfL Bochum who make his international debut the Philippines against Malaysia on March 23 and Singapore on March 29.
Holtmann is one of three players who will make their Azkals debut, joining defenders Enrique Linares and Diego Bardanca.
The rest are familiar names whose presence could be needed for the Azkals campaign in the 2023 AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers slated June in Mongolia.
Naturalized player Bienvenido Maranon, fellow forwards OJ Porteria, Patrick Reichelt and Mark Hartmann and team captain Stephan Schrock are part of the squad for the Singapore sojourn.
Also taking part are midfielders Manny Ott, Harry Foll, Iain Ramsay, Kevin Ingreso, Jesse Curran, returning Patrick Strauss, Oliver Bias, Oskari Kekkonen, Dylan de Brucyker.
The list of defenders are Amani Aguinaldo, Daisuke Sato, Carli de Murga and Justin Baas while completing the list are goalkeepers Kevin Hansen and Quincy Kammeraad.
