Presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos has been using vlogs to reach as wide an audience as possible ahead of the May 9, 2022 elections. With now over 200 of these vlogs posted on his YouTube channel, a scouring of noteworthy snippets in these videos is in order.

In BBM Vlog no.128, Bongbong reminisced and gamely shared memories of his late father, former strongman president Ferdinand Marcos, while looking at old family photos.

Based on his anecdotes, Macoy can be quite a strict dad; but given the right circumstances, he can be a jokester, too.

In one story, Bongbong said that he got scolded by his father when he showed up late for a photo shoot.

"Sa umaga may darating na parang schedule na sasabihin na nandun ka. Nakatanggap naman ako ng schedule pero hindi ko nasundan (We get a schedule in the morning which tells us where we should be. I received the schedule but failed to follow it). So I arrived about 20 minutes late," the May 2022 Palace bet recalled.

"My father is the busiest person I have ever met. 20 minutes marami na siyang nagawa. Kaya medyo nabulwayan ako nung bago itong picture na ito. Kung titignan niyo yung body language, medyo hindi kami masyadong intimate dito (He could have done a lot of things in those 20 minutes. That's why I got shouted at before this picture was taken, if you look at the body language, we didn't look too intimate). But you know I guess that happens with all families," he said.

Bongbong said that he would attend speaking engagements of his father as a young boy. It was during these times that the late president would give them something to look forward to.

"I remember hinila niya ako ganyan (he pulled me aside like this)--'They don't expect for me to say these things, I'll going to say like this.'

"I think he did that because you know, for an eight-year-old, nine-year-old, 10-year-old boy, hindi masyado masaya yung nakaupo ka dun, nakikinig ka, ura-urada na speech (sitting there and listening to an impromptu speech isn't much fun). So he tried to make it fun, or he tried to make it interesting," Bongbong said.

"So syempre (of course) when he told me this, pag nagi-ispeech siya, syempre nakikinig ako nang mabuti kasi inaantay ko yung sinabi niya (whenever he does a speech, I had to listen carefully because I was waiting for what he said he would say). I thank him for that because I learned so much about public speaking from watching him," he added.

Speaking of fun interactions, Bongbong also recalled an instance when he and his dad had a quick "sparring session" in Malacañang. This was when his father learned that he was taking karate lessons.

Macoy then began playfighing with his son and asked him to "defend" himself.

"Boksingero yung tatay ko noong panahon niya sa eskwela (My father did boxing during his days in school). So that's what we were doing, nag-isparring kami ng matanda (I sparred with the old man).

"Masyadong palabiro yung tatay ko, lagi kaming tinutukso (Our father teases us all the time)," Bongbong said fondly.
