Tawi-Tawi leaders pledge to support Sara Duterte

Tawi-Tawi Governor Yshmael Sali and nine of the province’s mayors met with UniTeam vice presidential bet Sara Duterte to pledge their support to her campaign.

“She is an adopted daughter of Tawi-Tawi, and has shown her affection and concern for Tawi-Tawi way before this 2022 election...She helped us with the establishment of the Malasakit Center. She even facilitated the transfer to the province ambulance and police motorcycles, which were originally donated to Davao City,” Sali said during the meeting on Wednesday, March 16.

“We expect her to share her experience and expertise as city mayor of Davao to the whole country,” Sali added.

Sali, in 2019, declared Duterte an ‘adopted daughter’ of the province of Tawi-Tawi.

One of the mayors in attendance, Bongao Municipality Mayor Jimuel Que, similarly endorsed Duterte’s campaign.

“Para sa akin yung strong leadership at decision-making niya. Nakikita yung pagiging matapang and strong na pag-lead niya sa taumbayan ng Davao (for me, it’s her strong leadership and decision-making. Her bravery and leadership were witnessed by those in Davao),” Que said.

“Full support yung buong Tawi-Tawi kay Mayor Sara and I am sure mananalo tayo (Tawi-Tawi offers its full support to Mayor Sara and I am sure we will win),” Que said on behalf of the province and its constituents.

For her part, Duterte thanked the Tawi-Tawi leaders for their support and reiterated her platform of unity.

“Lagi po namin ikinakampanya na magkaisa. Nagkasundo po kaming dalawa ni former senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na magtulungan para sa bansa as president at vice president (We are always campaigning for unity. Marcos Jr. and I are one in trying to help the country as president and vice president),” Duterte responded.

Duterte is running for the vice presidency alongside UniTeam partner and presidential bet Marcos Jr.
