The drama tells the story of a Korean immigrant family across four generations who leave South Korea to survive. The story starts in the early 1900s and is told through the eyes of Sunja (played by Youn Yuh-jung, Kim Minha and Jeon Yu-na), who triumphs against all odds.

"Pachinko has emotions that transcend borders, languages and generations, so I’m pretty sure everyone can feel those emotions and relate to them," actor Lee Min-ho told Entertainment Tonight.

In “Pachinko,” Lee Min-ho plays the role of Hansu. He added, "We now live in a global community without any silos so we can easily share our story amongst each other and that’s why I think a lot of the once-neglected people are under light."

Jin Ha will play the role of Solomon; Anna Sawai as Naomi; Jung Eun-chae as young Kyunghee; Inji Jeong as Yangjin; Jimmi Simpson as Tom Andrews; Junwoo Han as Yoseb; Kaho Minami as Etsuko; Steve Sanghyun Noh as Isak; and Soji Arai as Mozasu.

“Pachinko” will premiere on Apple TV+ on March 25 with the first three episodes followed by one episode every Friday to complete the eight-episode series on April 29.

The series is based on the New York Times bestselling novel by the same name and created by Soo Hugh.

“Pachinko is an epic journey of four generations of a Korean family. Through years, we watch a girl grow up from a teenager into a woman. This is the story of Sunja. A poor Korean girl who becomes pregnant and has to travel far from home to start a new life in a country that doesn’t even want her,” said Soo in a video uploaded by Apple TV on YouTube.

According to Kim Minha, “It’s about Sunja’s soul and determination and her power to survive.”

Youn Yuh-jung, who won the Oscar for best supporting actress for “Minari” at the 93rd Academy Awards held in April 2021, said, “Every country has their own history. Sometimes it’s beautiful, but sometimes it’s ugly.”

Lee Min-ho described Sunja as a “strong woman, who has survived through history as a mother, lover and daughter.”

I believe there are shows that break through their time period and that everybody can relate to. 'Pachinko' is one of them,” he said.
