The Navotas City government on Thursday, March 17, gave cash assistance to five local government units affected by Typhoon Odette.
“Although our budget and resources are also limited because of our two-year long battle with Covid-19, we are still fortunate that we have the capacity to help our fellow Filipinos in dire need of support and assistance,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.
In the past, we were the ones who were being helped because we were being badly hit by floods. Now, we help others. And we are grateful to every Navoteño for their solidarity, we can deal with the pandemic more easily, we can use public funds better not only to uplift the life in Navotas but also to help our fellow Filipinos who greatly need help)," he added.
The city government donated P1.5 million to the local officials of Dapa, Surigao del Norte, Ilog, Negros Occidental, Gingoog, Misamis Oriental, and the provinces of Dinagat Islands and Bohol.
Typhoon Odette hit the Philippines in December 2021 and ravaged many areas in Visayas and Mindanao regions.
