March 22 declared special non-working holiday in Cavite
The Office of the President declared March 22 as a special non-working holiday in Cavite.
The date, which falls on a Wednesday, is the birth anniversary of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo.
Proclamation No. 176, uploaded on the Official Gazette website on Monday, March 6, indicated that the holiday declaration aims to give Caviteños a “full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.”
Aguinaldo, the first Philippine president, declared Philippine Independence in 1898 at his ancestral home in Cavite el Viejo, now known as the Municipality of Kawit.
