More schools, universities gear up for F2F classes in Baguio City


BAGUIO CITY – Some twenty-eight public elementary and high schools, and universities here are now gearing up for the conduct of limited face-to-face classes, thanks to fast-improving situation.

Gibraltar and Sto. Tomas Elementary Schools started face-to-face classes last March 7, after satisfying the requirements of the School Safety Assessment Tool (SSAT) of the Department of Education (DepEd).

Mary Jane Malihod, education program supervisor of the City Schools Division of DepEd, said that the department is still validating the compliance to the SSAT by the 28 other schools composed of 19 elementary and nine high schools.

Malihod explained these compliance to the SSAT is still subject to validation and simulation to ensure the smooth resumption of face-to-face classes, especially from kindergarten to Grade 6.

Malihod made it clear that the schools that are ready for the limited face-to-face classes might start holding classes within the next several days after the completion of the validation, simulation and orientation of the students who will be allowed to participate in the in-person classes.

“Validation is ongoing for other public elementary and high schools and will also begin soon for private schools,” added Malihod.

Sto. Tomas National High School-Senior High School-Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL), Mil-an NHS (TVL), Happy Hallow Elem. School (ES), Spring Hills ES and Alfonso Tabora ES.ederico Martin are among the public schools now undergoing orientations and s.

Among the schools that passed the SSAT as of March 6 after validation include Fairview ES, Kias ES, Baguio Central School, Baguio City National High School, Baguio City Science HS (Stand Alone), Pines City NHS, Doña Aurora H. Bueno ES, Manuel A. Roxas ES and Quezon Hill ES.

These schools have been recommended by DepEd city and regional offices to start in-person classes.

For higher educational institutions (HEIs), the University of the Cordilleras announced that it opened F2F for engineering students taking up Engineering Laboratory and On-the-job Training Courses also last March 7.

F2F sessions had long begun for medical courses in the various colleges and universities.

Inspections are ongoing for other courses at St. Louis University, University of Baguio and Baguio Central University.
