MB Daily News Update: DOF eyes P20-B fuel subsidy

As the Russia-Ukraine war rages on, the country is starting to reel from its effects, beginning with the dizzying fuel price hikes, and the stock market taking quite a hit.

But the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) believes that the Philippine economy, particularly with its solid macroeconomic fundamentals, could insulate it from the long-term effects of the conflict.

The Department of Finance (DOF) intends to create a P20.3-billion “war chest” in the form of fuel subsidy that could cushion any further adverse effects of the war.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is preparing for another off-shoot of that war as a national group of public utility drivers and operators are set to stage a transport strike.
