Chiz Escudero tops PNU-Mindanao senatorial mock polls

If the voting for the May 2022 senatorial election happens today, senatorial candidate and incumbent Sorsogon Governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero will emerge as the top winner, based on the mock polls held among students of the Philippine Normal University (PNU) Mindanao campus.

Escudero garnered 59.46 percent of the total respondents of the PNU System-Wide Mock Elections, the PNU-Mindanao said in its Facebook post.

According to the PNU-Student Electoral College said there were 3,358 students who participated in the mock elections from all the campuses of the state university in Manila, North Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao for the “Tindig PNUANS: 2022 PNY System-Wide Mock Elections” conducted from February 26 to March 11, 2022.

Over all, Escudero placed third 1,720 votes, or 51.22 percent of the total student participants.

But on a campus basis, PNU-Mindanao gave Escudero the number one spot, while the veteran lawmaker was number two in both PNU North Luzon and Visayas. In its South Luzon campus, Escudero was third place, and sixth in Manila.

College students and school personnel have constantly picked Escudero as indicated by surveys conducted by various schools.

Escudero emerged as the number one choice for senator among respondents in the survey conducted by the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) last month.

The Sorsogon governor is seeking a fresh term in the Senate in the upcoming May polls. His senatorial bid is backed by President Duterte, Davao City Mayor and vice presidential candidate Sara Duterte, the tandems of Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and Senate President Vicente Sotto III, other organizations and several party-list groups.
