54 Filipino seafarers from Ukraine arrive in PH

A total of 54 Filipino seafarers from Ukraine arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), the biggest group of overseas Filipino workers that were repatriated amid the continuing armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

First to arrive on Monday morning, March 14, were 14 seafarers of MV Bolten Ithaki who were all on board the Philippine Air Lines PR685. Seven more crewmen of MV Ithaca Prospect arrived via Gulf Air.

On Monday night, 12 personnel of the MV Polar Star and 21 from MV Riva Wind arrived aboard another PAL flight.

The Philippine government has been monitoring 23 ships with Filipino crewmen near Ukraine area. These included Yasa Jupiter and MV Namura Queen which were both hit by rockets in the Black Sea.

A Filipino seafarer who was wounded in the incident was already repatriated after his hospitalization in Turkey.

Currently, Filipino crewmen of the following vessels were ether relocated or repatriated: MV S –Breeze with 21 Filipino crewmen; MV Joseph Schulte with seven; MV Star Helena with 31 Filipinos on board; MV Global Aglaia with 20; MV Key Knight with 21; MV Pavlina with 22; MV Bonita with 11; MV Star Laura with 19; MV Rio Grande with 22; MV Polar Star with 19; MV Bolten Ithaki with 14; MV Ithaca Prospect with seven; MV Riva Wind with 21, and MV Marika with 14; and one from MV Puma.
