4 cops charged for kidnap-slay of trader, abduction of missing car salesman
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has filed five criminal cases against four policemen and their three alleged civilian cohorts in connection with the kidnap-slay of a businessman and a car salesman in Quezon last year.
Charged were Police Lt. Emerson Custodio, Police Chief Master Sgt. Lien Manalo, Police Staff Sgt. Carlito JImeno and Police Corporal Alfie Reyes, all of them are members of the Highway Patrol Group based in Laguna.
Also charged were kidnapping, kidnapping with homicide, kidnapping with serious illegal detention and two other cases were civilians Ranilex Ramirez Mendoza, alias "Abong Ramirez Mendoza"; William Bawalan Dagotdot, Jr. (user of FB Account “Irene De Guzman” and “Olayres Albert”); and an unidentified woman.
CIDG director Police Brig. Gen. Eliseo Cruz said the case stemmed from the kidnapping of car salesman Rodrigo Melana Dueña II and businessman Jaime Faramil in December last year.
The two left Naga City to buy a second-hand car in Laguna on December 29. It was the last time that the two communicated with their families.
A significant development occurred when the family of Faramil learned of the withdrawals from his ATMs on December 30 and 31 last year.
The cadaver of Dueña was discovered in Sitio Dos Barangay Ibabang Bukal, Tayabas City while Faramil is still missing.
The involvement of the four policemen and their civilians accomplices were discovered in the course of the investigation of the CIDG with the aid of witnesses, a CCTV footage, social media and online exploitations.
