Korean actor Lee Jung-jae and Netflix's global Korean hit series "Squid Game" won at the 27th Critics Choice Awards held on March 13 (March 14 in the Philippines) at Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.
The 49-year-old star bagged the award for best actor in a drama series for his role as Seong Gi-hun in “Squid Game,” which became Netflix’s biggest show with 1.65 billion hours viewed in its first 28 days on the platform.
In winning the award, Lee Jung-jae edged out Sterling K. Brown (“This Is Us”), Mike Colter (“Evil”), “Brian Cox (“Succession”), Billy Porter (“Pose”) and Jeremy Strong (“Succession”).
Last March 6, Lee Jung-jae won Best Male Performance In A New Scripted Series for “Squid Game” at the 2022 Film Independent Spirit Awards held at Santa Monica Pier in California.
On Feb. 27, Lee Jung-jae won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series at the 28th Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.
“Squid Game” won best foreign language series at the 27th Critics Choice Awards against “Acapulco” (Apple TV+), “Call My Agent!” (Netflix), “Lupin” (Netflix), “Money Heist” (Netflix) and “Narcos: Mexico” (Netflix).
“Squid Game” was also nominated for best drama series, an award which went to “Succession.” Other nominees were “Evil,” “For All Mankind,” “The Good Fight, “Pose,” “This Is Us” and “Yellowjackets.”
“Squid Game” stars Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo and Jung Ho-yeon, and director Hwang Dong-hyuk attended the awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
