Las Pinas gov’t offers free Progestin Sub-dermal implant to women in the city

A total of 100 women of reproductive age availed of free Progestin Sub- dermal implant (PSI) offered by the Las Pinas City government to prevent unplanned pregnancy.

Mayor Imelda Aguilar said the team of City Health Office (CHO) under the supervision of Dra. Julie Gonzalez offered the PSI to all women who visited the health office to receive the booster shot against Covid-19.

Aguilar said the PSI program aims to help women in family planning, especially in this time of pandemic.

She said the PSI will also save the women from additional expenses and economic burden brought by the unplanned pregnancy.

The mayor explained that the PSI is a sub-dermal contraceptive implant placed under the skin. It releases the hormone progestogen into the bloodstream to prevent pregnancy.

Aguilar called on women residing in the city to visit their nearest health office to inquire about the family planning services being offered by the city government.
