In a statement, the AIM Alumni for Leni (AAFL) formally endorsed Robredo for President in the coming May 2022 elections.

“We stand for intellectual rigor, service excellence, and servant-leadership,” the statement read. “We believe these are indispensable qualities of the next President of the Philippines,” it added.

Signed by 250 alumni led by a steering committee headed by Chairperson Corazon T. Jimenez, the AIM community --- whose esteemed alumni have paved the way in various sectors such as finance, commerce, politics, and international relations --- the AAFL considers Robredo as the “leader of our times.”

AAFL noted that the Philippines is at a “critical crossroads” and the people’s vote will determine “whether we will continue the road to perpetual self-immolation or the road to redemption and recovery.”

“We say this in a moral, spiritual, political, and economic sense,” AAFL said.

AAFL noted that governance is “not orchestrated” to face the mounting challenges of the multidimensional crisis.

“We face massive displacements and considerable losses to lives and property brought by worsening geophysical phenomena and now, pandemics,” the AAFL said.

“Battling environmental degradation, climate change, and contagion require arming ourselves with science and care, backed by coordinated political action along all fronts,” it added.

AAFL is endorsing Robredo because she “personifies values we stand for.”

Robredo, AAFL said, has shown a demonstrated ability to inspire trust and confidence in the private sector as a key development partner.

“She has proven herself to be a diligent, incorruptible, and effective government official, both in the legislative and executive branches of government,” AAFL said.

“She is an economist-lawyer who profoundly understands the intricacies of development planning and program implementation from the grassroots to the highest levels of society, both in public and private spheres,” AAFL added.

Robredo, AAFL said, has also “consistently demonstrated an inclusive, empowering approach to involve and engage various stakeholders, high and low, in addressing both domestic societal issues and global geopolitical concerns.”

Moreover, AAFL said that Robredo has the “will, the strength, and the compassion to make it happen.”
