Iloilo governor, mayor top-performing local officials


ILOILO CITY—Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. of Iloilo province and Mayor Jerry Treñas of Iloilo City have been hailed as top-performing local chief executives.

In the survey conducted by RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD), both Defensor and Treñas ranked fourth for top-performing governors and mayors respectively.

Defensor had a rating of 72 percent while Treñas had a rating of 81 percent.

The survey was conducted from February 20 to February 28.

“Isa ka pribilehiyo nga mangin isa sa Top 5 mayors sa bilog nga Pilipinas! Sa masobra tatlo ka dekada nga nagserbisyo ako sa aton mga kasimanwa, padayon ako nga nagatinguha nga maghatag sang manami nga buwas-damlag sa akon mga pinalangga nga mga Ilonggo (It’s a privilege that I’m part of the Top 5 mayors in the whole country. In my more than three decades of public service, I continue to try my best to give a good service for the future of our people),” said Treñas in a statement.

For the governors’ category, Gwen Garcia of Cebu ranked first with a rating of 83 percent. Governors Francis “Chiz” Escudero” of Sorsogon had a rating of 81 percent; Hermilando Mandanas of Batangas province had a rating of 78 percent; and Manuel Mamba of Cagayan had a rating of 70 percent.

For the mayors’ category, Sara Duterte-Carpio of Davao City ranked first with a ranking of 98 percent. Benjamin Magalong of Baguio City had a rating of 86 percent; Beverly Dimacucha of Batangas City had a rating of 84 percent; and Gerard Anthony Gullas Jr. of Talisay City 80 percent.
