Help is at hand for the thousands of public utility drivers, farmers, and fisherfolk, who have been reeling from skyrocketing prices of fuel – a situation that was exacerbated by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The P3-billion fuel subsidy for these groups has been released, and this would mean P6,500-assistance for drivers, and a maximum of P3,000-aid to farmers and fisherfolk.
And with Metro Manila now on its second week of being under Alert Level 1, with this comes the traffic on major streets. As such, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has undertaken a reshuffle of top officials, who would be able to address the worsening traffic situation not only on EDSA but in other major streets in Metro Manila. The Metro Rail Transit (MRT) 3 will also be deploying four extra cars to accommodate more passengers.
With the easing of Covid-19-related restrictions, the Department of Tourism (DOT) also believes that arrival of foreign travelers will begin to perk up anew by April 1.
