Duterte met with members of the sectoral group in Quezon City on Thursday, March 10 at a hotel in Quezon City. In attendance were senatorial candidates Harry Roque, Larry Gadon, and Salvador Panelo; House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez; Quezon City mayoralty bet Anakalusugan Party-list Rep. Mike Defensor, and Quezon City vice mayoralty bet Councilor Winston “Winnie” Castelo.

“LGBT Pilipinas, its allied organizations and network believes that only Mayor Inday Sara Duterte and Bongbong Marcos are in the best position to move this nation forward and build on the gains that we have had since the advent of this administration,” said Dindi Tan, LGBT Pilipinas national secretary general during the meet and greet.

LGBT Pilipinas was founded in 2016 and is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The group has over 70 chapters nationwide.

"We believe that given her (Duterte) commitment in fighting alongside us for our cause, we will be able to do more and achieve more with her in Malacañang Palace together with President Bongbong Marcos by God’s grace,” Tan said.

Tan estimated that their group is six million-strong--a figure that covers both "out" and "closet" LGBTs.

It was also during this meeting that Duterte announced that she was also part of the LGBT community.

"Paano ko ba hindi mahalin yung LGBT, eh LGBT din ako (How can I not love the LGBT when I’m also LGBT),” said the presidential daughter.

Duterte is the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) chairperson.
