BTOB, STAYC members test positive for Covid-19; Seventeen, Fromis 9 recover


Three members of K-pop boy band BTOB and a member of girl group STAYC have tested positive for Covid-19 while members of Seventeen and Fromis 9 have recovered.

Cube Entertainment announced that on March 10, “Lee Changsub, Peniel, and Yook Sungjae tested positive while Lee Minhyuk and Seo Eunkwang tested negative for Covid-19 after receiving the PCR test.”

“Schedules will be canceled or postponed during their isolation period, and any changes will be announced through the event organizers,” it said.

As a result, the agency said “the “‘BTOB 10th Anniversary Concert 2022 BTOB TIME ,’ which was scheduled to be held from March 18th to 20th for three days, will be postponed temporarily due to a series of Covid-19 confirmed cases among BTOB members.

“We express our deep apology to the fans who were looking forward to the concert. We ask for your understanding as it is a measure for a safer and better performance. Further information on the concert will be announced at a later date after reviewing the Covid-19 situation and the artists’ health. All offline and online tickets will be canceled and be fully refunded without a cancellation fee.”

Meanwhile, STAYC member Yoon also tested positive for Covid-19 on March 11, according to the group’s agency, High Up Entertainment.

“On the 10th (Thursday), the preemptive self-test kit test showed a positive result, so Yoon immediately proceeded with the PCR test. Yoon has completed up to the third dose of the vaccine and currently does not have any special symptoms, and is receiving treatment at home according to the guidelines of the quarantine authorities,’ the agency said.

All other members of STAYC tested negative through a PCR test and “STAYC has suspended all schedules and is taking necessary measures in accordance with the guidelines of the quarantine authorities, and the possibility of additional confirmed cases cannot be ruled out, so we are continuously monitoring the condition of the members.”

On the other hand, “Seventeen members S.Coups and DK have made full recoveries from Covid-19 and their quarantine has concluded as of today,” according to Pledis Entertainment on March 11.

“S.Coups and DK have been administering self-treatment at home as per health authority guidelines and have not shown any extraordinary symptoms. As their quarantine has concluded, they can resume their activities starting from today,” it added.

S.Coups and DK both tested positive for Covid-19 on March 5 and recovered in seven days based on the isolation period set by health authorities.

Pledis Entertainment also said Fromis 9 member Lee Chaeyoung “has made a full recovery from Covid-19 and her quarantine has concluded as of today .”

“Lee Chaeyoung has been administering self-treatment at home as per health authority guidelines and has not shown any extraordinary symptoms. As her quarantine has concluded, she can resume her activities starting from today,” it said.

More than 200 Korean celebrities, mostly K-pop idols, have tested positive for Covid-19 since Jan. 19.

South Korea recorded 282,987 new Covid-19 cases on March 11 to bring the total confirmed cases to 5.82 million. The country has been battling a surge in Covid-19 cases due to the highly contagious Omicron variant.
