1 more CA justice, 8 more RTC judges appointed

President Duterte has promoted another regional trial court (RTC) judge to the Court of Appeals (CA) as associate justice and appointed eight more RTC judges.

The promotion of Judge Mary Charlene V. Hernandez Azura to the CA and the appointment papers of the eight RTC judges were transmitted to Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo last Wednesday, March 9.

Justice Azura took over the post of CA Associate Justice Remedios Salazar Fernando who had been promoted CA presiding justice.

There are now 15 CA associate justices who have been appointed by the President since last January.

Regional Trial Court (RTC)

Appointed new RTC judges and their stations are Juan Jose P. Enriquez III, Branch 149, Makati City; Alexander B. Yarra, Branch 21, Bansalan, Davao del Sur; Maria Sophia T. Palma Gil Torrejos, Branch 6, Mati, Davao Oriental; Mylene I. Amerol Macumbal, Branch 3, Iligan City; Samina S. Macabando Usman, Branch 8, Marawi City; Jimmy B. Boco, Branch 2-FC (family court), City of Tagum; Minerva P. Pepino Estremos, Branch 3-FC, City of Panabo; and Maria Eloisa A. Maglana, Branch 4-FC, Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte.

With the appointment of the eight new RTC judges, the President has named a total of 114 trial court judges since last February.
