The Makati City local government on Tuesday, March 8, launched its Bakuna Makati initiative in a BPO (Business Processing Outsourcing) company as it ramped up its COVID-19 vaccination efforts.
The ceremonial program held at Teleperformance was led by Dr. Roland Unson, incident commander of Makati City Covid-19 Operations.
Unson was also joined by Dr. Ethel Labayog of the Makati City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU), National Task Force Against Covid-19 Chief Implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez, Department of Health (DOH) Regional Director Gloria Balboa, Department of Labor and Employement (DOLE) Under Secretary Benjo Benavidez, Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Under Secretary Frisco San Jose Jr., and Jeffrey Johnson, senior vice president of human capital resource management of Teleperformance.
The city government said that the vaccination program aims to give booster shots to over 500 employees of Teleperformance to further protect them against Covid-19, especially amid the shift of Metro Manila to Alert Level 1.
Under Alert Level 1, more people are now allowed to go out of their homes and several establishments are allowed to operate at full capacity, hence the need to increase the number of people protected against the virus.
According to the local government unit (LGU), the city has vaccinated 549,298 individuals with their first dose, while 524,152 have been fully vaccinated. It added that 212,953 have received booster shots against Covid-19 as of March 8.
