Mayor Isko pays tribute to women frontliners, vows equal opportunities on Int'l Women's Day

On International Women’s Day, Manila mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso paid tribute to all the female frontliners who have played a crucial role in the fight against Covid-19.

Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso

“Ang ating mga frontliners, mga babae at lalaki, nagtulung-tulong upang mapaglabanan natin ang virus. Mga nanay na kailangan iwan pansumandali ang pamilya upang lumabas para makapaglingkod at makapagsalba ng buhay; mga kababaihang hindi inalintana ang panganib na maaring sila o ang kanilang pamilya ay mahawa; at ang ilan nga sa atin ay na impeksyon na rin (Our frontliners, women and men, have worked together to fight the virus. Mothers who need to leave the family temporarily to go out to serve and save lives; women who are unaware of the risk that they or their families may become infected; and some of us are already infected),” Domagoso said.

“I know some of you paid the ultimate price, may mga nalagas sa hanay natin by being with our people, doing their jobs. And some of us also got sick by performing our duties, but I am really proud of our employees- whether casual, JO , or managerial, I am really proud of you (here are those who have fallen out of our ranks by being with our people, doing their jobs. And some of us also got sick by performing our duties, but I am really proud of our employees- whether casual, JO, or managerial, I am really proud of you, ”the local chief executive said.

Like what he had done in Manila, Domagoso assured that he will provide equal opportunities to women, regardless of social status, sexual preference, religious beliefs or political affiliations if he gets elected.

He then assured that job status and promotions will be based on merits and credentials.

“Based on merits tayo lagi. Credentials and field of undertaking. So pantay pantay. And I’m happy and supporting— sa lahat ng kababaihan, ako po kaisa poo ninyo, nakikiisa po ako at pumanatag kayo, nasa likod ninyo po kami. Katulad ng masaya ako na ang naging partner ko sa Manila ay babae at effective na babaeng vice mayor (So equally. And I'm happy and supporting — to all the women, I am with you, I am in solidarity and be at peace, we are behind you. I am just as happy that my partner in Manila is a woman and an effective female vice mayor),” Domagoso said in a separate interview during his visit in Tarlac on Tuesday, March 8.

The chief executive added that as long as they are qualified and effective, they will be part of the government.

“To our women frontliners and to all of you today, mukhang nakikita na natin ang bukang-liwayway ng tagumpay ng laban sa pandemyang ito. Sana ay magtuluy-tuloy na po ito para mapanatag na ang lahat. Sa laban ng Maynila kontra Covid, I didn’t do it alone. Kasama ko kayong lahat sa pamahalaang lungsod (We seem to be close to victory against this pandemic. I hope this will continue so that everyone will be at peace. In Manila’s fight against Covid, I didn’t do it alone. I am with you all in the city government),” he said.

Domagoso and the Aksyon Demokratiko slate are currently in Tarlac province as part of their campaign sortie.
