A total of 20 service firearms were recovered by the Manila Police District (MPD) from dismissed cops and those who have filed Absence Without Leave (AWOL) in their respective offices.

According to MPD chief of Public Information Office, Police Maj. Philipp Ines, the "Oplan Bawi" started from March 4 to 6 to make sure that the former policemen will not illegally use the firearms.
The said service firearms were not surrendered to the Philippine National Police (PNP) after their dismissal from service.
The nationwide Commission on Elections (COMELEC) gun ban started last Jan. 9 until June 8.
The “Oplan Bawi” is a part of the campaign for a peaceful election on May 9.
