DOH waiting for experts' recommendation on 2nd booster shot

The Department of Health (DOH) said it is still waiting for the final recommendation of the country's health experts about the possible administration of a second Covid-19 vaccine booster shot.

DOH Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje said that they will inform the public regarding this matter soon.

"In terms of the second booster, there is a recommendation that give second booster, pero pinag-aaralan pa (but is still being studied)," said Cabotaje, who is also the chief of the National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC).

"In the next few days, the DOH and the experts will come up with a final recommendation," she added.

National Task Force (NTF) against Covid-19 Adviser Dr. Ted Herbosa said that the recommendation of giving a second booster shot or fourth dose of Covid-19 vaccine is for senior citizens and immunocompromised individuals.

As of March 5, a total of 63,681,927 million people nationwide were fully vaccinated against the viral disease. Over 10.4 million Filipinos already got their booster shots.
