K-pop superstars BTS have added three more world records to their list of achievements.
Guinness World Records announced on March 4 that BTS broke three new records in the number of followers on Instagram, Twitter and TikTok, which they set in February. These bring their total Guinness World Records titles to 28.
First is the Guinness World Records title for the most followers on Instagram for a music group.
“BTS can officially boast the record for most followers on Instagram for a music group. As of February 2022, they reached 60,151,959 followers on the popular social media platform,” Guinness posted on its website.
With this, BTS broke their own record on most Instagram followers for a music group that they set in April 2021 with 40.22 million followers.
Back in December, BTS’ V set two world records for the fastest time to reach one million followers on Instagram in just 43 minutes) and fastest time to reach 10 million followers on Instagram in 4 hours and 52 minutes.
BTS also set a new record for the most followers on TikTok for a music group.
According to Guinness, BTS’ official account @bts_official_bighit has 45.7 million followers on TikTok, the most followed music group on the platform.
BTS placed 16th among TikTok’s overall most popular accounts, excluding TikTok's own account, Guinness said.
Third, BTS set a new record for the most number of followers for a music group on Twitter.
“With 44,167,059 followers, @BTS_twt is the account with most followers on Twitter for a music group in the history of the platform. Previously, the title had been achieved and re-confirmed several times by British boyband One Direction, with the last record being set at 31,747,631 followers in 2017,” Guinness stated.
