BTS’ Jungkook graduates from university, receives highest award


Jungkook, 24, the youngest member of K-pop superstars BTS, is now a university graduate.

South Korea’s Global Cyber University uploaded on March 3 a video showing Jungkook announcing that he is now a graduate.

The university gave Jungkook the President’s Award, the highest award, during the graduation ceremony for academic year 2021 held online on March 1 in compliance with the government’s quarantine guidelines to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Six of the seven members of BTS attended the Global Cyber University: Jungkook, RM, V, Suga, J-Hope and Jimin.

With this, Global Cyber University brands itself as “BTS University.”

“Global Cyber University is promoting Hallyu culture(or K-Culture) around the world. Global Cyber University is known as BTS University abroad. Among 7 members of BTS, who are becoming global sensations, 6 of them have been students of Global Cyber University. RM, Suga and J-Hope are majored in, and Jimin, V and Jungkook are majoring in Entertainment & Media. There are many Korean stars are leading the Hallyu culture(or K-Culture) in Global Cyber University,” according to a post on its website.

In the video, Jungkook said, “Hello, I'm Jeon Jungkook, majored in broadcasting and entertainment at the Global Cyber University in the year of 17 , who will graduate today.”

“Graduation is a period and beginning. Guess that's the reason why I feel very touched and exciting. From President Ilchi Lee to many other professors and staff members, I pay sincere gratitude and congratulations to my peers who are graduating today as well,” said Jungkook.

He also thanked the university for giving him the President’s Award.

“Thank you for this great award and I'll do my best to become a good role model for junior students,” he said.

As to his advice to fellow students, he said, “Learning something is always a very exciting and fabulous experience. Hope we all cherish this present moment and put sincere effort for our beloved dreams. I'll always cheer for your dreams.”

About his resolution for the future, Jungkook said, “I'll try my best to make more beautiful music and performance for our beloved fans.”
