Negros cops warned against 'e-sabong'

BACOLOD CITY - The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) here has warned its personnel not to engage in online cockfighting or "e-sabong" or they may be charged administratively.

Col. Leo Pamittan, Negros Occidental police director, conducted spot inspection on his personnel’s mobile phones during the daily personnel accounting formation at the NOCPPO headquarters here on Wednesday, March 2, to check if they have the e-sabong applications.

This was based on the directive of Gen. Dionardo Carlos, chief of Philippine National Police (PNP), following the case of 31 civilians who reportedly went missing after engaging in the said activity.

“E-Sabong” has no room in NOCPPO,” Pamittan stressed.

Pamittan also directed all police chiefs to check the mobile phones of their personnel in police stations to ensure that no one engages in e-sabong.

According to Lt. Abegael Donasco, Negros Occidental police spokesperson, no personnel at the headquarters were caught engaging in online cockfighting during the inspection.
