Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) vice presidential candidate Sara Duterte-Carpio has denied claims that the "UniTeam" has been charging a P20-membership fee from its supporters.
Aside from that, she said there's also no truth to allegations that her May 2022 poll partner, presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. is giving P5,000 to voters in Mindanao.
Reporters asked the Davao City mayor to address rumors that the BBM-Sara UniTeam had been selling membership ID cards for P20 each.
“These are not true, this is a scam. So, if they know of any information about this, they should immediately report it to us, the UniTeam, so that we can appropriately act on it,” Duterte-Carpio said in a Davao City press conference on Monday, Feb. 28
She was also pressed about allegations that Marcos, Jr. would give Mindanao voters P5,000. Marcos is a native of Ilocos Norte.
“We call on the public not to believe these claims of certain groups about an ID that is worth P20 and there will be grant of P5,000 pesos from the presidential candidate of the UniTeam, Bongbong Marcos," the lady mayor said.
Duterte-Carpio is running for the vice presidency alongside Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) presidential candidate Marcos. The two comprise the so-called UniTeam tandem.
