Task force created to probe into Infanta, Quezon reelectionist mayor's ambush

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has created a special investigation task force to look into the ambush of Infanta, Quezon Mayor Filipina Grace America.

America, who is running for reelection, was wounded when armed men started shooting her vehicle shortly after boarding the car.

PNP chief information officer Brig. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba said the task force was already formed and will be supervised by top officials of the Police Regional Office 4A.

Alba said forensic investigators are now examining pieces of evidence gathered at the crime scene at Rizal corner Zamora Streets in Poblacion 1, Infanta, Quezon.

“We are confident that this evidence will produce leads that will assist police tracker teams in follow-up operations," said Alba.

"The CPNP (Chief PNP, Gen. Dionardo Carlos) is making available the personnel, capabilities, and resources of National Support Units to assist in the investigation and pursuit operations for the early solution of this case,” he added.

America just attended a Mass and was inside her sports utility vehicle when still unidentified suspects fired at her.
