Marcos-Duterte tandem tops OCTA’s presidential, vice presidential surveys


Former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio topped the presidential and vice presidential surveys conducted by OCTA Research, the independent group of experts revealed on Monday, Feb. 28.

The “Tugon ng Masa 2022 Elections: Presidential and Vice Presidential Preference” survey was conducted on 1,200 respondents from Feb. 12 to Feb. 17, 2022.

Marcos emerged as the top presidential pick with 55 percent votes from across the country. Mindanao residents dominated the voters at 65 percent, while Marcos garnered 46 percent, 56 percent, and 47 percent in the National Capital Region (NCR), Balance Luzon, and Visayas respectively.

At the second spot was Vice President Leni Robredo with a nationwide vote of 15 percent. She was followed by Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno (11 percent), Senator Manny Pacquiao (10 percent), and Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson (three percent).

Meanwhile, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, Bongbong’s running mate, has emerged as the top choice for the vice presidential survey which was conducted during the same period.

Duterte-Carpio garnered 43 percent of votes across the country. 82 percent of voters from Mindanao said that they will vote for Duterte-Carpio if the elections are held today.

Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto, on the other hand, landed at the second spot with 33 percent of votes nationwide. Followed by Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan (10 percent), Dr. Willie Ong (7 percent), Lito Atienza (1 percent), Carlos Serapio (0.1 percent), Walden Bello, Rizalito David, and Manny Lopez.
