Robredo discusses response to Ukraine-Russia conflict if she wins
Vice President Leni Robredo revealed the steps her administration will take in response to the Ukraine-Russia conflict if she wins the presidency in the upcoming elections.

During the CNN Philippines Presidential Debate at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) on Sunday, February 27, Robredo pointed out that a president should have act with vigilance and foresight.
"Kailangang ang presidente talaga yung vigilance at foresight nasa kanya para naa-anticipate niya kung ano yung mga darating na problema kahit 'di pa dumarating (The President should have vigilance and foresight so he is able to anticipate the things that can happen before they even happen)," she said.
According to Robredo, the ongoing conflict in Eastern Europe would affect the worldwide supply of oil. To weather its effects, she said the Philippines should automatically suspend the implementation of excise tax aside from tapping the fuel subsidy of the national budget.
"Kailangan mag-automatic suspension ng excise tax kasi ang mababawas nito sa presyo ay mga P10 per liter (We need to automatically suspend the excise tax because it would take off P10 per liter in the price of oil in the country)," she said.
Aside from this, the Vice President stressed the importance of watching out for the country's sources of power, especially with the rising rates of electricity in the country even if there is still enough power of supply.
"Unang-una yung implementation ng VAT (value added tax) kailangan tignan natin para yung mga hindi dapat kinakarga sa atin 'wag kargahin (We should go over the implementation of VAT so we won't be charged for things that we should not be paying for)," she said.
"Yung systems loss, yung distribution charges kailangan ma-subsidize ito ng pamahalaan para yung kwenta natin halos mga P600 ang mababawas sa bawat pamilya - panggastos (The government should subsidize the system loss and distribution charges because it would take off an estimated P600 in the daily expenses of every Filipino family)," she added.
In addition, Vice President Robredo said the government should start taking measures to address the power of supply, noting that the Malampaya would supposedly be depleted by 2024.
"Maraming pending na service contracts ngayon, kailangan asikasuhin na natin (We have a lot of pending service contracts, we need to take care of these already)," she said.
"Yung ating paghanap ng mas maraming (Our search for more) indigenous sources of electricity kailangan asikasuhin na natin kasi kailangan antabayanan na natin ang kakulangan (we need to step it up because we need to address the shortage)," she added.
