Naos Esports, South Built Esports arrange VCT PH Finals showdown

Naos Esports and South Built Esports emerged as the last two teams standing in the VCT 2022 Challengers PH following their victories on Saturday, Feb. 26.

Naos and South Built will be battling for crown on Sunday, Feb. 27.

Naos was the first team to punch a ticket to the playoffs after defeating Action PH, 2-1, in their upper bracket finals match earlier in the day.

It took the series’ first blood with a dominant 13-8 win on APH map pick in Icebox. APH retaliated with close 13-11 in the second map win in Bind but Naos used a blistering second half in the final map in Haven to pull off a 13-6 triumph and take the Grand Finals seat.

South Built, on the other hand, took the longer road to the Finals as it outlasted Oasis Gaming with a 2-0 sweep. The victory didn’t come easy for South Built as it took the first point of the series following a 15-13 overtime win in the first map in Ascent.

The contest remained a nip-and-tuck affair as the two squads traded rounds which extended to six overtime periods. South Built, though, still came out on top with a 19-17 win in Icebox to secure at least a third pace finish in the tournament and a spot to the VCT APAC Challengers.

It then faced Action PH in the lower bracket finals where it scored the first point of the series after a 13-10 win in the first map in Ascent. Refusing to go down without a fight, APH came back roaring in the second map in Split, 13-8.

Riding the momentum of Game 2 win, APH looked good in the first half of the final map in Haven as it took a 7-5 lead at the half. An SBE rally in the second however changed the complexion of the match as it unleashed an 8-4 counter attack to take a 13-11 win and arrange the Finals dance against Naos in the process.
