In the CNN Philippines' vice presidential debate on Saturday, Feb. 26, Ong was asked how he will help address the rising fuel prices.
The problem in Russia and Ukraine will definitely increase fuel, electricity. Our plan with Mayor Isko is that if he wins, the tax will be lowered, 50 percent on petroleum and 50 percent on electricity, it will be decreased to at least five to six pesos),” he said.
Ong also assured that assistance will be provided to the public just like what Domagoso did in Manila Oil prices worldwide have surged to almost $100 per barrel after the tensions between Russia and Ukraine escalated on Thursday, Feb. 24.
Slashing taxes on fuel and electricity are some of the major campaign pledges made by the Moreno-Ong tandem.
