ZAMBOANGA CITY—More than P27 million worth of illegal drugs were seized, while a high-value drug personality was killed during an anti-illegal drug operation in Sitio Caragasan, Barangay Maasin in Zamboanga City on Friday, February 25.
The fatality was identified as Puruti J. Taraji, also known as Bossing, and a resident of Barangay Laum, Maimbung Municipality in Sulu Province.
Police seized four kilograms of shabu placed in green tea packs worth P27.2-million, a 9mm caliber pistol, and the boodle money.
Military and police personnel were about to arrest Taraji after the buy-bust operation when the latter shot one of the policemen who was posing as buyer in the head.
This prompted the back-up team to shoot and kill Tararji.
Two other cohorts of the suspect fired at the government team, but later escaped aboard a motorized pump boat from the coastline of Barangay Caragasan.
