ILOILO CITY—For presidential candidate Vice President Leni Robredo, the energy of the Edsa People Power Revolution was felt in Iloilo at her February 25 grand rally that coincided with the 36th anniversary of the end of the Marcos dictatorship.

“Ganitong enerhiya ang muli nating binubuhay ngayon. Ganitong lakas ang muli ninyong ginigising (This is the energy that we revived now. This is how strong it has been reawakened),” said Robredo to an estimated 40,000 supporters at the Iloilo Sports Complex.
“At sa pagwawagi natin sa Mayo, bibitbitin natin ang mga aral ng nakaraang tatlumpu’t anim na taon: Na pinakamatibay ang pagkakaisa kung nakatuntong ito sa katotohanan at hustisya. Na hindi lang kulay o apelyido ang dapat palitan. Kailangang wakasan ang luma at bulok na uri ng pulitika. Kailangan itong palitan ng sistemang aktibong nakikinig, aktibong hinahanap ang nadarapa para itindig sila (When we emerge victorious in May, let’s bring the lessons of 36 years ago: The strongest unity is when it anchored on truth and justice. It’s not about colors or surnames that need to be changed, but the rotten politics. There needs to be a change in the system that’s actively listening and standup for the voiceless),” said Robredo.
The lone lady presidential bet did not mention the name of fellow presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., the son of the dictator and her closest rival.
But Robredo was confident that Iloilo will deliver votes for her in May just like the similar fashion when she defeated Marcos Jr. during the 2016 vice presidential race.
“I am confident that Iloilo will vote right. Thank you for making the right decision each and every time,” Robredo added.
The Friday grand rally at the Iloilo Sports Complex capped Robredo’s whole-day campaign sortie in both the city and province of Iloilo.
Robredo and her running mate Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan were joined by big celebrities including Pangilinan’s wife, the actress Sharon Cuneta.
Ely Buendia ended the grand rally by singing hit songs of the band Eraserheads, whom he was the formal frontman.
Saturday, February 26, saw Robredo’s team campaign in the neighboring island province of Guimaras.
